"it's even good with a hangover." -fisherman from "land of the long white cloud"
kiwi filmmaker florian habicht's latest outing is less about fishing and more about the philosophical musings of the kiwi locals who turns out for the annual snapper fishing competition the film loosely chronicles. he captures a certain flavor that is both authentic and humorous without giving way to pretension. moreover, the photography is stellar. similar again to the feeling evoked by his earlier "woodenhead," and you can see the influence of cinematographer christopher pryor. the sort of moody quietness of the landscape mirrors perfectly the characters in the film and their unique outlook on life.
